The Whole-Person Wellness Assessment

If you don't know where you are,
how will you get to where you want to be?

The Whole-Person Wellness Assessment (WPWA) identifies strengths and opportunities of individuals and communities/organizations. Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging recently received national recognition by receiving the Erickson Foundation Award for Research Excellence in Positive Aging for the WPWA.

The WPWA examines residents', senior center participants' and staff members'
well-being based on:

  • the six dimensions of wellness
  • wellness satisfaction
  • readiness for behavior change
  • relationships with staff/residents
  • whole-person wellness concepts of self-efficacy and self-responsibility
  • organizational culture

The Individualized Wellness Report provides residents, senior center participants and staff targeted first step and future step suggestions to move towards a higher level of well-being.

The Organizational Wellness Report provides suggestions to help organizations better establish, assess and track programming goals as they continue to develop a culture of wellness.

The Whole-Person Wellness Assessment has been pilot-tested and reviewed by residents, staff and older adults in the community who have attended Mather's More Than a Café and has been used in continuing care retirement communities.
