Activity Assistant - Mather Pavilion (Evanston, IL)
Reports to the Manager of Activities and Volunteer Resources and provides and helps coordinate a variety of meaningful activities and social events to assist residents in aging well. Completes all required documentation by due date and in form. Maintains high level of customer service and communication with residents, family & staff. A college degree and/or experience working with older adults, leading programs and/or classes, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer skills are required. You should be a self initiator requiring minimum supervision. The 36 or 42 hour Activity Directors Course is preferred. Experience with Music, Art or Therapeutic Recreation is a plus.

Includes timely preparation of correspondence, mailings, maintaining data base and files, processing/coding invoices, scheduling meetings, greeting visitors, answering phones ordering office supplies. Assists in data collection, database management and data analyses for internal/external research studies and development of research proposals, including literature reviews and other research tasks assigned. Required: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, sound statistical skills, strong verbal and written communications skills, proficient in Microsoft Office programs, experience with a statistical analysis software package (preferably SPSS Basic and Advanced Statistics), experienced in library searches and contributing to literature reviews and publications, experience in conducting subject interviews and administering surveys, skilled in management of large databases, supports a teamwork environment, goal-driven and motivated to meet targets and deadlines.
Preferred: Master’s degree in health-related field, experience working on a research project or grant related to MLW mission areas of wellness or workforce development, education/experience in gerontology.
